Grace Care~Giving Ministries

Grace Care Team

This team is comprised of Grace Ministry Team Leaders who meet regularly, usually once a week, with Pastor Mike.  They keep in contact with all those who are in need, provide information to the individual ministry teams as appropriate, call on those who are sick and in nursing homes or rehab, keep in touch by telephone with them as well, and at times take home bound communion or a prayer shawl accompanying the pastor on these visits.

Deacons

It is the duty of Deacons to minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any that may be in distress.  Grace is known throughout the community as a caring church.  One of our programs is called Helping Hands, which is overseen by the Deacons.  The Board of Deacons established the Helping Hands Groups as a way of showing our care for each other by providing assistance and support in times of need.  Each Deacon is assigned a Helping Hands group.  In 2007, Deacon Teams were established to further aid and support each Deacon in the care of her Helping Hands Group as well as others in need.  For more information about Deacon Teams, please contact Deacon Moderator, Margaret Tenny, at 303-798-8485.

Stephen Ministers

Grace Church participates in the lay caring program called Stephen Ministry. Stephen Ministry is a one to one ministry by caring members of the congregation who receive 50 hours of training in topics and skills related to caring ministry. They grow in their own faith and ability to share God's love with others. Stephen Ministers are not professional counselors, social workers, or experts in law or doctrine. They are caring Christians desiring to offer help to others in time of need who are bereaved, depressed or lonely; who are recovering from illness, in divorce or in the midst of other crises. Many of our members have used their gifts, skills and caring concern with neighbors, co-workers, or others outside the congregation. For more information, please contact Mike Motsko at 303-798-8485.

Barnabas

The Barnabas Ministry is a program of visitation to those in our extended family at Grace who are unable to attend worship and other activities because of health and physical limitations. We are looking for volunteers interested in visitation, encouragement and bringing God's love. For more information on this program, please contact Mike Motsko at the church 303-798-8485.

Prayer

The Grace Prayer Ministry is a composite of  individuals, prayer groups and church officers. This includes the Prayer Partners who meet the first Wednesday of each month for prayer and breakfast with the pastors; and a morning prayer group who meet weekly to pray. The prayers of the people which are submitted during Sunday services and are emailed to the congregation each week.  Prayer requests are sent out each week to members of the Grace Prayer Ministry for those who are hospitalized, in nursing homes, in rehab, having surgery or other matters of concern for members.  For more information on this program, please contact Fran Kuska at the church, 303-798-8485.

A Prayer Shawl Ministry, under the sponsorship of the Board of Deacons, is underway with ladies knitting and crocheting beautiful shawls.  This ministry is currently administered and coordinated by the Care Team with many shawls given to those in serious need of special comfort and prayer.
